After a hearty breakfast and checkout, our exploration takes us to the striking St. Basil's Cathedral, renowned for its intricate design and colourful domes that dominate the skyline, a symbol of Russia's artistic prowess. The journey continues with a visit to the Kremlin, the nucleus of political power and historical significance, where each wall and tower has a story to tell about the nation's tumultuous and captivating history.   We end day 4 as we board the Trans-Siberian Express, departing at 16:30 and embark on a 27-hour train journey that promises a deep dive into the vast landscapes and timeless allure of Siberia. After breakfast, we'll check out from our accommodation, ready to immerse ourselves in the local sights. Our exploration begins with the Border Monument, a symbol of historical significance that marks the division and unity of cultures. Following this, we visit The "Europe-Asia" Obelisk – a granite pillar located on Mountain Berezovaya to mark the border of two continents – where Europe meets Asia. Our journey through local culture continues at the Stones Museum, where the natural history and geological wonders of the region are displayed, showcasing an impressive collection of minerals and gems that narrate the Earth's ancient stories.   As the day transitions to evening, we prepare for the next leg of our adventure aboard Trans-Siberian Express train 070Ч.

Upon our 8:24 AM arrival in Irkutsk, deep in Siberia, we promptly check into a hotel for a quick refresh and breakfast. Energized, we head to the majestic Lake Baikal. A light lunch greets us on the way, setting the stage for our encounter with the world's deepest lake. Reaching its shores, we embark on a boat to cross over to an island, where the serene beauty of Baikal surrounds us. Here, we check into our island hotel, nestled in the heart of nature, ready to embrace the tranquility and awe-inspiring landscapes of this unique Siberian gem.

At Lake Baikal, we embark on a scenic tour of a northern coastal island, exploring its untouched landscapes and breathtaking vistas. The adventure is punctuated by a bonfire picnic lunch, a moment to gather and enjoy the serene beauty of this natural wonder. As evening falls, we settle in for an overnight stay by the lake's edge, embraced by the tranquil sounds of water and the vast Siberian sky overhead, creating a peaceful end to a day full of exploration and connection with nature.

After breakfast, we check out and begin our journey back to Irkutsk. The first leg involves crossing Lake Baikal on a ferry, a tranquil passage that allows us one last panoramic view of this magnificent natural wonder. Once on the other side, we embark on a scenic drive back to Irkutsk, making a special stop at Ust-Orda along the way. This visit offers a unique insight into the culture and traditions of the indigenous Buryat people, enriching our understanding of the region's diverse heritage. Lunch will be enjoyed en route, providing a moment to savor local flavors amidst the day's travels. Upon arrival in Irkutsk, we'll delve into an orientation tour of the city. We embark on the next leg of our journey to Mongolia aboard the Trans-Mongolian Express, departing at 8:16 AM. Our travel promises not just a change in scenery but a shift into a different world, where the rhythms of nomadic life and the raw beauty of nature dictate the pace.

After breakfast, we embark on a drive to Kharkhorin, initiating our 4-day exploration of the Gobi Desert. Kharkhorin, once the capital of the Mongol Empire, serves as our gateway to Mongolia's vast and storied landscapes. Our visit here is highlighted by a tour of the Erdene Zuu Monastery, a cornerstone of Buddhism in Mongolia, enveloped by its 108 stupas. This site offers a peaceful glimpse into the spiritual heritage of the region. On the second day of our Gobi Desert adventure, we delve deeper into the heart of Mongolia's nomadic culture. The day begins with a visit to a local nomadic family, offering an unparalleled glimpse into the daily lives and traditions of Mongolia's nomads. In the afternoon, we journey to the ruins of the Ongi Monastery. Once a thriving religious center, the monastery's remnants now stand as a solemn reminder of Mongolia's turbulent history, particularly the purges of the 1930s. Exploring the Ongi Monastery Ruins amidst the stark beauty of the surrounding desert offers a moment of reflection on the resilience of faith and culture over time. On our third day in the Gobi, we will visit Bayanzag, also known as the Flaming Cliffs, a world-renowned paleontological site bathed in vibrant reds and oranges. Here, amidst the desert's stark beauty, we tread where dinosaurs once roamed, surrounded by the timeless landscape and saxaul trees. Bayanzag not only captivates us with its natural splendour but also connects us to the Earth's ancient past. After a day of exploration and discovery, we retire to a Ger Camp for the night. This traditional Mongolian accommodation offers a unique experience, allowing us to immerse ourselves in the tranquility of the desert under a canopy of stars, rounding off a day of adventure with a peaceful rest in the heart of the Gobi.

On our final day in the Gobi, we visit the spectacular Khongor Sand Dunes for camel riding and an opportunity to climb to their summit, offering breathtaking views across the desert. The adventure continues with a drive to Yol Gorge in the Gurvan Saikhan Mountains, a dramatic shift from desert sands to rocky terrain. This exploration of diverse landscapes, from the Singing Dunes to the ice-filled gorge, encapsulates the Gobi's vast beauty and concludes our journey with vivid memories of Mongolia's natural splendour.

After breakfast, we set off for our return road trip to Ulaanbaatar. Reaching in afternoon, we will explore key landmarks and enjoy local cuisine for dinner. The day winds down with an overnight stay in Ulaanbaatar, offering a moment to reflect on our journey from the Gobi's open spaces to the lively capital, encapsulating Mongolia's rich contrasts.

Catching a 6:10 AM flight on Mongolian Air, we depart Ulaanbaatar for Beijing, marking a new chapter in our journey. Upon arrival in China’s historic capital, we dive straight into exploring some of the city’s most iconic sites. The Great Wall, a marvel of human engineering and resilience, offers breathtaking views and a tangible connection to China’s ancient past.   Our day in Beijing is a blend of awe-inspiring history and serene beauty, concluding with an overnight stay.

Our second day in Beijing is filled with local sightseeing, starting with the Palace Museum in the Forbidden City, where we delve into China's imperial history. Then, we move to Tiananmen Square, a symbol of China's historic and modern narratives. We have a free evening followed by a sumptuous dinner and a goodnight’s rest.

With our exploration complete, we head to the airport for an early morning flight for our journey back to Kolkata, reflecting on our journey from the natural wonders of Siberia and Mongolia to the historical richness of Beijing.
